One of the main problems for the Hastings fleet was the depot at St Leonards was on the seafront so most of the units suffered corrosion from the sea.

Even though 60502 is still at the same depot it is sore inside in the dry so therefor arresting the corrosion.

The rot may look bad but it is only plate working will eventually be rebuilt to the same high standard as the main line set.
